Do AML whistleblowers get paid?

Short answer

US law (31 U.S.C. 5323) says anti-money-laundering whistleblowers can receive 10% to 30% of penalties collected in cases over $1,000,000. FinCEN says it will start paying awards once its regulation is final.

The US pays people to report money laundering. Under the anti-money-laundering whistleblower law (31 U.S.C. 5323), someone whose original information leads to a successful enforcement action with penalties above $1 million can receive 10% to 30% of the money collected.
